Bernal Dwellings - Resource Access
The Bernal Dwellings community room opened its doors in 2007 with the help of Mission Neighobhrood Centers (MNC) and the Mission District Safety Network organizer. Youth Affinity Group members are working with MNC and the Safety Network to increase resident's access to resouces and services on site and at neiboring organizations.
6th Grade Orientation for Mission District Youth
YAG members identified a gap in support as 5th Grade students make the jump to Middle School. In July 2007 YAG members hosted the first 6th Grade orientation for 30 incoming 6th Grade students. Participants learned about thier rights and responsibillities as students and learned about the pressures of gang and how to "say no".
Mission First
Now in its initial planning stages YAG members have embarked in the planing of a long term mission youth hiring project which will encurage and support local businesses to hire neighborhood youth.
